How Does ellacor Work?

Ellacor uses hollow needles, each with an internal diameter of less than 0.5mm. These needles remove micro-cores of skin and then the skin quickly realigns to fill in the tiny puncture wounds. This new, healthy skin has an improved appearance that rejuvenates a more youthful look. The creation of these tiny wounds also triggers the body’s natural healing response, including the production of collagen. Collagen is a protein in the skin that keeps it firm and elastic but over time, collagen levels are depleted. Who is an Ideal Candidate for a Micro-Coring Procedure?

Ellacor is ideal for patients looking for a non-surgical solution for mid-to-lower face wrinkles and excess skin. Ellacor is approved for Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV, which means it may not be a good option for patients with darker skin tones. Ellacor should not be performed on people who have medical conditions that inhibit proper wound healing and women who are pregnant.

Preparing for the ellacor Procedure

There is very little preparation needed before an Ellacor treatment, but we will provide you with all of the information that you need at your consultation. Blood-thinning medications and some other facial treatments should be avoided for about two weeks before the procedure. If you have a history of cold sores or scarring, please let us know so that we can help you determine whether Ellacor is right for you.

What to Expect from an ellacor Micro-Coring Procedure

On the day of your procedure, you will receive a local anesthetic to the treated area to help you stay comfortable during the procedure. Once your skin is numb, your provider will strategically place the Ellacor device to your skin to create micro-cores in a precise grid pattern. Excess skin will be removed through hollow needles, but the micro-cores are so tiny that they will begin to heal almost immediately.

After Ellacor treatments, mild to moderate swelling, bruising, and redness is common for the first week. Most patients feel comfortable going out in public after a few days, but we recommend that you avoid excessive sun exposure to protect your healing skin.
