What Is a Forehead or Brow Lift?
A forehead or brow lift is a facial plastic surgery procedure that lifts the tissues of the upper face to a more youthful and refreshed-looking position. While it is most commonly performed as an anti-aging solution, it is also popular with people who have naturally low brows that make them appear more fatigued or grumpy than they really are.
How Much Does a Forehead or Brow Lift Cost?
The cost of a forehead or brow lift at our Charleston plastic surgery practice varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and the extent of the correction. We will provide you with a personalized pricing estimate after discussing your goals during your consultation.

How Is a Forehead or Brow Lift Performed?
During the outpatient procedure, our surgeons use tiny incisions hidden along the hairline to lift and reposition the skin and tissues of the upper face. The muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and eyebrows are raised for a natural, yet more youthful appearance.
Can I Combine a Forehead or Brow Lift With Other Procedures?
People often combine a brow lift with a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to correct both a sagging brow and drooping of puffy eyelids. If you are looking to rejuvenate both your upper and mid to lower face, you may choose to combine your forehead or brow lift with a facelift.
What Happens During A Consultation
Because we want to create your ideal surgical results, the consultation is a critical part of the process. Your surgeon will walk you through your options and help you make choices that align with your anatomy and goals. This time will also be used to conduct a thorough medical history and address all your concerns and questions.
You will have another preoperative appointment closer to the date of your surgery. At this time, you will sign the consent forms, have photos and measurements taken, and receive detailed instructions for before and after surgery. Please adhere to these instructions closely as they are instrumental in ensuring your safety and comfort.
How Long Is Recovery After a Forehead or Brow Lift?
Recovery typically takes about 10 days, with most people returning to work after 1 to 2 weeks. Expect to experience some swelling and bruising during the first couple of weeks. Sleeping with your head elevated is a great way to minimize swelling and fluid build-up in your treated area.
Do Forehead or Brow Lifts Leave Scars?
This procedure does leave very small scars on the scalp. However, they are hidden behind the hairline and are typically barely visible once healed.
How Long Do Forehead or Brow Lift Results Last?
While nothing can stop the aging process completely, a forehead or brow lift can take several years off your appearance, effectively turning back the clock. You can maintain your results as long as possible with proper skin care, sun protection, and minimally invasive maintenance treatments.
Are There Nonsurgical Forehead or Brow Lift Alternatives?
Our Skin Clinic offers several nonsurgical alternatives that may replace or enhance a surgical result. Injectable BOTOX® Cosmetic provides a subtle brow lift and smooths away horizontal forehead lines for 3 to 4 months at a time. Laser skin resurfacing may also firm the skin a bit and minimize wrinkles in the upper face.
