Double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Ulm is pleased to join our team in Charleston, SC, a community he and his family have called home for over a decade. Dr. Ulm has been training plastic surgery residents for several years and brings unique expertise to CC Plastic Surgery, including the face, breast, and body.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Ulm prioritizes quality time with his four children. Known for his strong family devotion, he delights in participating in outdoor activities with them. He also stays actively involved in research to stay ahead of surgical advancements and the evolution of procedures, consistently publishing findings and delivering presentations to disseminate his expertise.

Education & Background
Dr. Ulm originates from Indianapolis, Indiana, where he spent his early years. He began his academic path at the esteemed Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in 2004. Subsequently, he ventured to the East Coast, completing his general surgery residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Following this, Dr. Ulm was recruited for a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the renowned Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He received advanced fellowship training in aesthetic and craniofacial surgery from the highly respected Mass General Hospital at Harvard Medical School, working with world-renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Michael Yaremchuk. During this fellowship, Dr. Ulm learned specialized techniques in facial cosmetics, reconstructive surgery, and craniofacial surgery.
While Dr. Ulm offers a full suite of reconstructive and cosmetic services, he is most notably trained in two of the most complex procedures in his field: breast reconstruction and craniofacial reconstruction. Proficiency in both illustrates the depth of his dedication to and passion for providing his patients with today’s most sophisticated techniques.
Teaching & Leadership
During his tenure as a fellow at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Ulm also taught surgery. He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina and an active member of the Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic and Advanced Breast Reconstruction Program. He also serves as a plastic surgery consultant at all other nearby hospitals within the Charleston vicinity.
Contributions & Awards
Dr. Ulm is proud to have taken medical mission trips to Central and South America, working with Operation Smile and Global Smile Foundation. He remains actively involved in research to stay at the forefront of advancements and the evolution of procedures. Dr. Ulm continues to publish findings and deliver presentations and has received numerous awards and honors, including several for teaching. These recognitions speak volumes about his ability to mentor, collaborate, and instill confidence in others—qualities he brings to interactions with all his patients.
