Breast BEFORE & AFTER Patient 172: Breast Augmentation with Asymmetry Correction

Before & After

A 30-year-old female patient presented with concerns regarding breast symmetry, volume, and overall contour. After a thorough consultation and evaluation, the patient elected to undergo breast augmentation at Crantford Costa Plastic Surgery in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Crantford placed Motiva ESRD implants in a submuscular position, a 215cc implant in the right breast, and a 190cc implant in the left breast to address natural asymmetry and achieve a balanced, improved result. Photos are shown at 9 weeks post-op.

Natural breast asymmetry is common, and surgical correction requires precise implant selection tailored to the size and positional differences between sides. In this case, a 25cc differential between implants allowed Dr. Crantford to achieve a more balanced result while still enhancing overall breast volume. The use of Motiva ESRD implants, with their smooth surface and refined silicone gel construction, supports a natural feel and appearance at this modest volume range. Before-and-after photos at 9 weeks reflect the early stages of a result that will continue to settle and refine through the coming months.

What volume range is appropriate for patients with smaller frames or less existing tissue?

For patients with petite frames or limited existing breast tissue, smaller implant volumes — such as those in the 190–225cc range can deliver meaningful improvement in volume and shape while remaining proportionate to the patient’s overall frame. Dr. Crantford evaluates each patient’s chest width, tissue coverage, and goals during the consultation to determine the volume range most likely to produce a natural, balanced outcome.

How are two different implant sizes used to correct asymmetry?

When natural breast size differences exist between sides, Dr. Crantford can use different implant volumes in each breast to help equalize the final result. The size differential is determined by the degree of natural asymmetry and the overall volume goal for each side. This approach allows for a more balanced outcome than placing the same implant in both breasts, which would simply amplify the existing difference.

What are Motiva ESRD implants?

Motiva ESRD (Ergonomix Smooth Round Demi) implants are a lower-profile option within the Motiva lineup, designed for patients seeking a natural, proportionate result. Their smooth surface and responsive gel construction allow them to move with the body in a way that closely mimics natural breast tissue — making them well-suited for patients prioritizing a subtle, natural-looking augmentation.
