A 34-year-old female patient underwent breast augmentation with Dr. Crantford at Crantford Costa Plastic Surgery in Charleston, South Carolina, to enhance breast volume and improve overall symmetry. To address natural asymmetry and achieve a balanced result, Motiva ERSD implants were selected, with a 320cc implant placed in the right breast and a 360cc implant placed in the left breast. Photos are shown at 6 weeks post-op.
Breast asymmetry is extremely common, and using differently sized implants on each side, as Dr. Crantford did in this case, is one of the most effective ways to correct it while still achieving a balanced, proportionate result. Careful preoperative measurement and implant selection allow each breast to be treated individually rather than applying a single implant size to both sides. At 6 weeks post-op, this patient shows improved shape, proportion, and symmetry, with continued softening expected as the tissue fully settles.
Can breast augmentation correct asymmetry?
Yes. Because nearly every patient has some degree of natural breast asymmetry, Dr. Crantford routinely selects different implant sizes for each side when needed to create a more balanced, proportionate result rather than forcing a matched pair of implants onto uneven anatomy.
Will my results continue to change after 6 weeks?
Yes. While most of the swelling resolves within the first several weeks, subtle changes in shape and softness continue for a few months as the implants settle fully into position and the surrounding tissue relaxes.
